Danielle is committed to working as part of Mark Carney’s team to build an inclusive economy that supports the vital programs that Canadians rely on.

Danielle Martin is the Member of Parliament for University—Rosedale and was elected to represent the riding in April 2026.

Dr. Martin is a family physician and health care leader with deep roots in University—Rosedale. She spent two decades caring for patients in her family medicine practice at Women’s College Hospital, where she also served as a senior executive for 8 years, including as Executive Vice-President and medical lead for the hospital’s COVID-19 pandemic response. Prior to running for office, she led the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto, the largest academic department of family medicine in the world.

Throughout her career as a hospital executive, university leader, and health care advocate, Dr. Martin worked on many major initiatives to improve health care in Canada. She has extensive experience advising governments on health care policy and is the author of the national bestselling book “Better Now: Six Big Ideas to Improve Health Care for All Canadians.”

She holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Toronto.

In 2014, Danielle appeared before a United States Senate subcommittee, earning widespread recognition for her remarks about Canada’s public health care system. In 2019, she became the youngest physician to receive the F.N.G. Starr Award, the highest honour of the Canadian Medical Association. Throughout her career she has trained and supported the next generation of physicians by teaching family medicine, health policy and leadership.

Beyond her professional contributions, Danielle has also served on various community boards, including the Wellesley Institute and Humber River Hospital as well as Canadian Doctors for Medicare, which she founded and led for many years.

As the Member of Parliament for University—Rosedale, Danielle is a strong advocate for people across the riding. She is committed to working as part of Mark Carney’s team to help build an inclusive economy that will continue to support the vital programs that Canadians rely on every day.
